  •   These are challenging times for indie producers and filmmakers. With less time available for prime time TV programming, and networks preferring lower cost reality TV shows, traditional distribution models have less funding than ever.

    • What are realistic income streams from US and foreign distribution, on-demand, internet download and direct website DVD sales?
    • What are creative strategies to arrange financing and meet investors?
    • What are tips for managing your business and legal affairs for film and TV production?
    • What are key trends you must know for filmmakers' and TV producers about issues like protection of rights, structuring a production deal and setting up equitable partnerships for better monetary returns?

New: Due to popular demand, you can now attend a workshop before the dinner from expert presenters with more depth discussion.

Workshop 4:00-5:45: How to Pitch, Develop and Sell Original Content for Film, TV, Web, Mobile and Games
    Speakers:

    • Philippa Burgess, Partner, Creative Convergence
    • Patricia Mayer, Partner, Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp
    • Frank Chindamo, CEO and Chief Creative Office, Fun Little Movies

The Internet has dramatically changed the landscape on how indie producers can get exposure for their content; but learn how it can help you sell for TV and film distribution. How do you sell your idea using these new tools? Once you've sold it, what are the deal terms you will want to negotiate? What sort of work experience builds the skills required to become a successful producer? How do you get your idea produced even if you don't yet have traditional experience?

This seminar from industry experts will tell you how to move up in this highly competitive industry and will address the combination of traditional and new media strategies, how to use contacts and introductions, and to reach decision makers.

Includes pitch fest. A few selected members of the audience can give a 2 minute pitch to the speakers; and hear feedback on their ideas. See what a live pitch meeting is like! Once you register, you will be given option to apply to pitch fest by submitting your idea. Three will be selected. You can pitch your TV or Film idea to our experts and hear feedback. Whether you're developing TV's next big comedy, drama, or reality show, this is your opportunity to bounce it off some of Hollywood's savvy experts.

In this workshop, you will learn:

    • How to promote yourself and your content using technology
    • The best work experience to accumulate en route to becoming a show runner
    • Strategies to pitch during the development and sale process
    • What to expect from the broadcast network or film studio
    • Significant Legal and business issues for structuring a deal
    • Retaining rights (or not) and creative control for traditional and new media
